Fresh 48

The Fresh 48 is a special session aiming to capture the early moments and first sweet details of life in the hospital before heading home to start a new chapter of life with your family.

The best time to book your newborn session is about 2-4 months before your due date but the earlier the better. The in home session is best within the first 14 days of babies arrival, however it is always a good time to capture details of your growing baby.

The Fresh 48 will be within 24 to 48 hours of birth.

Preparing for an in-home newborn photo session can ensure that you capture those precious early moments beautifully. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you prepare:

  1. Choose a Date and Time: Select a date and time that works best for your family and when your newborn is usually calm and settled, preferably after a feeding when they're likely to be sleepy.
  2. Communicate with the Photographer: Discuss your vision with the photographer beforehand. Share any specific poses, props, or themes you have in mind. Also, make sure to ask if there's anything you need to prepare or provide.
  3. Clean and Declutter: Tidy up the areas of your home where you plan to take photos. Clear away any clutter or distracting items that could draw attention away from your newborn.
  4. Select a Location: Choose the rooms in your home with the best natural light for the photo session. Typically, the nursery, master bedroom, or living room with large windows are great options.
  5. Set the Temperature: Newborns are sensitive to temperature, so ensure the room where you'll be taking photos is comfortably warm, around 75-80°F (24-27°C). This helps keep your baby comfortable if they're not fully clothed for some shots.
  6. Feed Your Baby: Plan to feed your baby right before the session begins. A full belly often results in a content and sleepy newborn, making it easier to capture those adorable sleepy poses.
  7. Gather Props and Outfits: Choose a few outfits or wraps for your baby to wear during the session. Additionally, gather any props you'd like to incorporate, such as blankets, stuffed animals, or sentimental items.
  8. Relax and Enjoy: Remember to relax and enjoy the experience. Your baby can pick up on your emotions, so staying calm and positive will help create a comfortable atmosphere for everyone involved.
  9. Be Flexible: Newborns can be unpredictable, so be prepared to go with the flow. If your baby needs a break, feeding, or a diaper change during the session, that's perfectly normal.
  10. Capture Candid Moments: While posed shots are lovely, don't forget to capture candid moments as well. Some of the most precious photos are those that capture the natural interactions and emotions between family members and the newborn.

By following these steps, you'll be well-prepared for a successful and memorable in-home newborn photo session. Congratulations and I can't wait to meet your sweet little one!
